Child Protection Policy

Child Protection Policy

Ministry is serving Christ wherever, whenever, in the church, the community and the world.  It leads us to wonderful friendships.  It teaches us about ourselves and the nature of God.  It shows us how to hear God’s still, small voice.  We hope you will join us in ministry by becoming a part of our volunteer team for Children’s and Youth Ministries!

We believe that we are called by God to be the body of Christ in our community and that it is our responsibility to create safe, nurturing, and supportive environments for all children, youth and at-risk adults participating in the activities and programs of First Presbyterian Church.  Our policies and guidelines for the protection of children, youth and at-risk adults can be found by clicking on our link here.

As a church, through the promises we make at each baptism, we have accepted responsibility to provide these safe and nurturing environments for children of all ages.  In the policies we have outlined through our Child and Youth Protection Policy, we have taken positive steps to provide as safe an environment as possible for the physical, emotional and spiritual health of our children, youth and at-risk adults.

All staff members and volunteers (18 years and older) who wish to minister with our children, youth and at-risk adults on a regular basis must complete the following requirements:

  • Be a member of First Presbyterian Church
  • Complete a Volunteer Application form
  • Agree to a confidential criminal background check
  • Agree to adhere to our Child and Youth Protection Policy
